A comparative study on the casting accuracy of two base metal alloys

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to find out and compare the casting accuracy of two base metal alloys.
Methodology: Two brands of base metal alloys viz Durabond and Remanium were selected for the study. Casting accuracy was determined by fabricating specimens on a standard brass die. The die measurements and the casting measurements were made on a 3-D measuring machine Sip 414M and compared.
Results: Reduction was seen to be greatest at the base of the specimens. The diameter, at the base for Durabond reduced by 6.19% and that for Remanium by 5.78%.
